CALCULATION TRUST

Answer Atlas Calculation Standard

Answer Atlas calculators are designed to be useful, transparent and safe to check. This standard explains what a calculator must show and what it must pass before we treat it as release-ready.

Last reviewed: 28 August 2026.

1. Formula transparency

Every calculator must show the formula, conversion factor or method it uses in plain language. If a result depends on an assumption, the assumption must be visible near the calculator or in the page explanation.

2. Deterministic calculation

Arithmetic must come from deterministic code, not from generated text. AI may help draft explanations or propose tests, but it must not be the source of truth for final numeric results.

3. Edge-case handling

Calculators must handle common zero, decimal, negative, over-limit and invalid inputs safely. When a value is outside a sensible range, the page should return clear feedback instead of misleading numbers.

4. Privacy by default

Calculator inputs and results should stay in the visitor’s browser whenever practical. Analytics events may use only fixed allowlisted identifiers and must not include calculator values, free text, personal data, referrers or full URLs.

5. Accessibility and mobile use

Inputs need accessible labels, keyboard support, readable focus states and result areas that can be announced by assistive technology. Layouts must remain usable on supported mobile widths and right-to-left language pages.

6. Local rules and disclaimers

Country-specific tax, legal, medical, salary and regulated financial calculations require appropriate local review before strong claims are made. Global calculators must avoid pretending to know local law or professional requirements.

7. Release verification

Before release, calculator changes must pass automated checks for formula references, page metadata, privacy constraints, accessibility markers, sitemap preservation, tool inventory, localization, build health and zero unexpected recurring cost.

8. Corrections

If you believe a calculator is wrong, contact editorial@answeratlasglobal.com with the calculator name, the value entered, the result shown, the expected result and a reliable reference. The calculator corrections and review policy explains the full process. Do not send sensitive personal information.
